Get everything you want out of life through the power of your own mind! The law of attraction is the belief that your thoughts create your reality.

The belief held by many theorists is that the universe is governed by a set of universal laws; these laws cannot be changed, cannot be broken and apply to every individual. The law of attraction is one such law.

The law of attraction is the belief that anyone can determine their destiny through the power of their mind.

This ancient concept has been taught by wise men throughout the ages. The immortal Buddha was actually one of the first to introduce man to the law of attraction. He said, “What you have become is what you have thought.” This was a principle that the people of the East were acquainted with for centuries before it began to sweep into the Western Hemisphere.

The law of attraction began to gain popularity in the Western Hemisphere in the 19th century as people began to appreciate the power of positive thinking and apply it to their lives. Early proponents of the law of attraction include Helena Blavatsky, Thomas Troward and Prentice Mulford. In 1906, William Walker Atkinson published a book called Thought Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World.

Thoughts are extremely powerful. They can elicit strong emotions, influencing how we feel and act. Fortunately, we can learn to control our thoughts and emotions rather than allowing them to control us.

Your thoughts are energetic and vibrate at a specific frequency. These thoughts are sent out into the universe, attracting things and events that have the same frequency. This is why it is so important to be aware of your thinking at all times. Your thoughts are attracting things and situations into your life!

“The Law of Attraction attracts to you everything you need, according to the nature of your thoughts. Your environment and financial condition are the perfect reflection of your habitual thinking.”  Joseph Murphy

The theory behind the law of attraction is the belief that like energy attracts like energy in the vast expanse of space and time that comprises our universe. Each person is constantly radiating energy out into space. The type of energy being radiated is determined by the emotional state of the individual and may differ from day to day, sometimes even hour to hour!

Scientists studying the law of attraction refer to this emotional energy as a vibration or “vibe.” Chances are that you are familiar with the term. Some people give off a “positive vibe” while others project a “negative vibe” based on their emotional energy. This energy is very real on a psychological plane and can affect anyone, anywhere, at any time.

Because the fundamental principle of the law of attraction is the belief that like energy attracts like energy, if a person emits positive vibes, they will attract good things, and if they emit negative vibes, they will attract bad things. There are a number of feelings which lead to positive and negative vibes being emitted.

Positive vibes are generated from good feelings, such as:

  • Joy
  • Love
  • Excitement
  • Abundance
  • Pride
  • Comfort
  • Confidence
  • Affection
  • Gratitude

Negative vibes are generated from negative feelings, such as:

  • Disappointment
  • Loneliness
  • Lack
  • Sadness
  • Confusion
  • Stress
  • Anger
  • Hurt
  • Resentment

“Remember, you attract to your life whatever you give your attention, energy and focus to, whether wanted or unwanted.” Michael J. Losier

How to Use the Law of Attraction

  1. Ask for what you want:

Identify the things you want to achieve and write them down. Be specific. Display them in prominent places. Being able to see the expected outcomes of your efforts will help keep you on track. Spend time thinking about these things. Visualize yourself as having already achieved your goals and how this would make you feel. Focus on what you want and the feelings that are generated.

  1. Believe and Accept:

You must believe and accept that it is possible for you to achieve your goals. This is an essential part of the law of attraction. Do not let worry or doubt enter your mind. Your vibrations will become negative and work against you rather than for you.

Be confident that your desires are coming to you but be detached from the outcome. Let go of all emotional attachments, negative thoughts, and tension in your body. Raise your vibration by staying positive. Achieve vibrational alignment with what you desire by imagining that you already have it. Visualize it already being a part of your life experience. Focus on the feelings of enjoyment and gratitude.

  1. Act and Receive:

Once your subconscious is aligned with your conscious mind, you will be inspired to take the necessary actions toward your goals. The universe sends us signs in various forms to help us. For example, a relevant article or video pops up while you are scrolling through your phone, or you see an ad for an event that would help you reach a goal. Pay more attention throughout your day to notice these synchronicities. Act on your intuition or gut feelings. Be grateful for these signs from the universe. Start a gratitude journal. Keep track of all your wins. Be patient with the process and enjoy yourself along the way!

Common Mistakes:

As with any skill it takes time, effort, and devotion to truly master the use of the law of attraction in your life. In order to find success, it is important to avoid some common mistakes when using the law of attraction.

Below are some common mistakes:

1. Believing that positive thinking is enough to attract what you want

The mind is always operating on two levels, the subconscious and the conscious. Positive thinking only occurs on the conscious level, which is not enough to activate the law of attraction. It is necessary for belief to enter the subconscious mind as well.

The subconscious has a direct effect on the actions and beliefs of the conscious mind. If the conscious mind is attempting to think positive thoughts while the subconscious retains a negative energy the two will cancel each other out, and the desired effect will not be achieved. That is why it is important to identify and overcome your subconscious limiting beliefs.

2. Not removing limiting beliefs

People can fall into a self-defeating cycle because they are unable to control the thoughts and attitudes of their subconscious. The removal of limiting beliefs is absolutely vital for the law of attraction to work as it is intended to.

These limiting beliefs could be about yourself, about how the world works, or just false beliefs or ideas. Limiting beliefs tend to cause self-judgment that is unhealthy. Some examples include “I’m not good enough”, “I’m not smart enough”, or “I’m too old or too young”. Limiting beliefs can come from past negative experiences, fears, and what you learned from people as a child.

Take some time to examine your subconscious beliefs and work toward changing them. Where did this belief come from? How does this belief serve you? How does this belief hurt you? Limiting beliefs lose power once you start to examine them. Then you can start to create new beliefs that are more in line with your goals.

3. Becoming impatient

The universe works at its own speed in its own time. It is essential that all conditions be right in order for an event to occur just as it should. Being impatient creates a negative vibration that prevents the law from working. Trust the process.

4. Trying to determine how and when you will attract what you want

Let the universe work. Do not worry about “how” or “when” the law of attraction will work. The universe will choose its own time and place for all things to occur. Worry, frustration, and disbelief create negative vibrations that interfere with the law of attraction working in your life.

If you truly feel that the law of attraction is not working for you, take a moment to consider what you are wishing for. Do you truly believe that these events can take place, or are you merely making idle wishes? Are you open to the divine guidance that will align you with the right actions to take toward manifesting your desires? Do you listen to and follow your intuition? Are you taking the necessary actions to move you toward your goals?

Conclusion:

Although there is no conclusive scientific evidence supporting the law of attraction, its effects have been proven time and time again. Focusing on positive thoughts and behaviors such as compassion and kindness towards others will surely benefit you and the people in your life. If you adhere carefully to the principles of the law of attraction, you too will be able to unlock the power hidden within the depths of your own mind and chart the course for your own destiny.
